Introduction to Modern Physics : Concepts of a Twin-Mode-Learning Course |
L. Drska, FNSPE CTU, Prague |
Abstract |
Knowledge of modern physics concepts is an indispensable part of training of any physical scientists and engineer.Using exiting teaching and learning methodology based on adequate application of ICT tools and modern pedagogy is increasingly becoming a need for courses in this area. Our paper presents concepts, methodology, some results and experiences earned in the course of modern physics with strong ICT support taught at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. In the course TLM (Twin Learning Mode, an equal mix of classroom and e-learning) with several specific features for physics teaching formulated in JiTT ((Just-in-Time Teaching) approach was applied. New sophisticated packages for numeric, symbolic and graphic computing (WRI CalculationCenter, webMathematica) have been used, the possibilities of some new technologies (Pocket PC) have been tested. In the contribution, concepts of the used courseware and methodology of its acquirement / development will be also shortly mentioned |
